Oregon Garden Resort and Conference Center

This year's Symposium will be held at Oregon Garden in Silverton, OR. All AHG Annual Symposium guests will receive complimentary access to the gardens for the duration of the event. Oregon Garden has two restaurants onsite. In addition, freshly-made boxed meals will be available for preorder for all Symposium attendees and will accommodate gluten-free and vegetarian options. 

IMPORTANT! SMOKING POLICY AT OREGON GARDEN RESORT: The Oregon Garden is a smoke-free property, which includes the use of marijuana. Public marijuana consumption is illegal in the state of Oregon. Although marijuana is legal in Oregon it is not legal to smoke in public. The Oregon Garden is a public venue, so please no marijuana smoking.

Oregon Garden is an 80-acre botanical garden, featuring more than 20 specialty gardens showcasing the diverse botanical beauty that can be found in the Willamette Valley and throughout the Pacific Northwest. They have educational specialty gardens for everyone, from the Sensory Garden and Rose Garden to the Children’s Garden and Pet-Friendly Garden, or the Silverton Market Garden and Amazing Water Garden. They also offer a complimentary narrated tram tour from April - October, and they are pet-friendly.

The Oregon Garden is also committed to sustainability. The Rediscovery Forest is managed in partnership with the Oregon Forest Resources Institute, and reveals insights on forest management. Visitors will also encounter one of the largest collections of miniature conifers in the country, in the Conifer Garden, and a 400-year-old Signature Oak, which is an Oregon Heritage Tree, in the Oak Grove. The Wetlands Habitat, which cools the City of Silverton’s treated waste water through a series of pools, brims with local wildlife. Silverton, approxmately one hour south of Portland,  is a charming small town known for its historic murals and local arts and crafts.

You'll find lots of great places to eat and drink, and a well-stocked natural foods grocery.

However there are few lodging options in Silverton. We've explored the town and reserved rooms for our group at most of the place available. We highly recommend that if you want to stay in town that you book reservations early. Once these rooms are booked, all other lodging options are at least 15 miles away.To learn more about Silverton, OR, click here.

Oregon Garden Resort Lodging

Limited lodging is available at the Oregon Garden Resort and as of late July was almost completely booked.

You MUST USE these instructions when booking a room for the AHG Annual Symposium dates. The simplest way to make a reservation is to call the reservation line at 503-874-2500 ext. 0. Be sure to give them the code "AHG" when booking. If you have any trouble making a reservation, you may also call the front desk directly at 503-874-2508. Tell them you are with the American Herbalists Guild and that your code is "AHG". 

The Guest Room rate is $119 plus tax per night. Options include rooms with one king sized bed or two queen sized beds. Additional cots may be added to any room reservation for a small fee. Reservations should be made prior to August 21, 2017. The Oregon Garden & Resort is ADA compliant. Wheelchairs are available to check out from the Visitor Center at no charge.


Silver Falls Lodge and Conference Center 

Silver Falls State Park is  located 18 miles south of Silverton. Located within the State Park, Silver Falls Lodge & Conference Center offers charming and rustic chic lodges and cabins. The drive between Silverton and Silver Falls State Park is scenic and winds through vineyards and lush forest. Silverton Inn & Suites

Located in the heart of Silverton, this motel is one mile from Oregon Garden. Silverton Inn & Suites has 18 period-decorated rooms with different bed combinations. Prices vary. All rooms in the Inn been reserved for our group until August 15, 2017.

Note: This Inn is within walking distance of all downtown restaurants and shops but one mile from the Oregon Gardens. 



Information for Campers

Interested in camping? An Oregon State Park, Silver Falls State Park, is the camping venue located closest to Oregon Garden, where the Symposium is held. Silver Falls State Park is approximately 19.8 miles from Oregon Garden Resort. Campsite options range from standard pitch-your-own tent sites to simple camping cottages to group lodges to RV sites with hook-ups. Flush toilets, laundry facilities, and showers are also available. Pets are allowed at some sites.

Birdwood Inn

Another charming option is Birdwood Inn in downtown Silverton, Oregon. Relax and enjoy your stay in a vintage bed and breakfast. Located just steps away from historic downtown Silverton and about one mile from Oregon Garden. Rooms range from $120-150 a night. Four rooms are blocked off for our group so mention you are with AHG when you call to reserve. Call Bobbie at 971-283-2941 to make a reservation.




  La Quinta Inn 

La Quinta Inn in Woodburn, is approximately a 30 minute drive from Oregon Garden Resort. Room selections include rooms with one queen bed for $89 a night, two queen beds for $94 a night, or a suite with a kitchenette and the option for one king bed with a sleeper couch or two queen beds for $103 a night. AHG has reserved a block of 40 rooms. McClaine House 

Last but not least, the McClaine House is a bed and breakfast located just one mile from the front gate of Oregon Garden Resort and one block from downtown Silverton. There are two lovely, spacious suites available at McClaine House. The suites are each equipped with a king size bed as well as a day bed. Each sleeping area is private, and the suites will comfortably sleep three people. Breakfast is included.The McClaine House also offers a business and print center, and each room comes equipped with an iron, ironing board, coffee maker, microwave, and mini-fridge. If you book for four nights more, you get $20 off per night. The Terrace Suite is $210 per night or $190 with the discount, and the Falls Suite is $195 per night or $175 with the discount.
