katja swift & rin madura, from the Commonwealth Center for Holistic Herbalism will be returning to talk about the business side of an herbal practice.
Business Skills for Herbalists
Being a professional herbalist is actually several jobs in one: you're not only a teacher, advisor, and medicine-maker, but you also need business savvy & marketing skills - not to mention the capacity to navigate the laws & regulations around herbal products & practice. This doesn't have to be intimidating, but you are going to need to get organized! In this class we'll address:
- The bare necessities: a space to work in, tools & supplies, website, newsletter.
- Marketing: it can actually be fun! How to make the most of your online presence in the age of social media.
- Administrivia: the often-frustrating but important nitty-gritty of small business administration: insurance, taxes, incorporation, GMP, and more.
- Staying on target: it's all moot if you can't hold your focus: planning, accountability, and staying grounded.
The world needs more herbalists! It's terribly sad when a talented herbalist gives up on their dream because the business aspects are too daunting. Let's work together to make sure that doesn't happen to you, so you can share your gifts and bring herbs to more people who need them!
