Honoring Our Legacy, Embracing the Future: 37 Years of the American Herbalists Guild

Patricia Kyritsi Howell, RH(AHG), an herbalist who calls the mountains of northeast Georgia home, is the author of Medicinal Plants of the Southern Appalachians: Second Edition.

Her work celebrates regional herbalism, especially the many medicinal plants found in the Southern Appalachians, where she led the BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies for three decades. Her family has roots in the Greek island of Crete, where she hosts plant-centered tours each spring. There, she and her guests experience native aromatic medicinal plants, forage for wild greens, savor traditional Cretan cuisine, and learn about the island’s rich culture and history.

Through her virtual course, Crafting Your Herbal Practice, Patricia teams up with Kat Maier to support both new and seasoned herbal practitioners in establishing successful, sustainable clinical practices.

Patricia has been a Registered Herbalist with the AHG since 1997 and, once again, finds herself supporting the Guild’s mission as the AHG Admissions Coordinator.
