This webinar was recorded June 2, 2020.
7Song discusses how he has been active as an herbalist during the SARS-CoV-2 viral outbreak such as working with people via phone consultations, and helping with other ailments besides COVID-19 as well as working with people who have viral symptoms.
One of the difficulties is that the clinic I work, the Ithaca Free Clinic, has been shut down since mid-March and will likely stay closed for a while longer. And so the challenges of working with patients and delivering herbal medicines will be a part of this discussion.
The majority of this class is not how to treat COVID-19, but rather what herbalists have been doing to help people during this pandemic and quarantine.
Other herbalists are welcome to add their voices to this moderated discussion.
My goal is to exchange as much helpful information for both practitioners and non-practitioners during this unprecedented and unknowable time of our lives.
Bio: 7Song is a clinical herbalist, teacher, botanist, and naturalist. He is the director and main instructor of the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. He is a founder, a practicing herbalist, and the Director of Holistic Medicine at the Ithaca Free Clinic, an integrative clinic providing free consultations and herbal medicine for the Ithaca region community. 7Song has been active in herbal first aid for many years working at clinics, first aid stations and as a street medic. One of his teaching goals is demonstrating how herbal medicine can offer primary and adjunct treatments for acute and chronic health conditions. He practices an integrative approach working alongside conventional and holistic practitioners. He aspires to make herbal medicine accessible, affordable, and within reach of everyone.
Why Suggested Sliding Scale
AHG acknowledges the uncertainty of these times and welcomes herbalists at all levels to our special educational webinar series. By offering suggested sliding scale for these timely webinars, we invite all interested to attend these webinars at the level of financial contribution that is comfortable for them, while also acknowledging the expertise of the webinar presenters and the amount of behind-the-scenes planning which goes into planning and hosting these.
As a non-profit, it is part of our mission to support access to herbal medicine for all and advocate for excellence in herbal education. One way we support the growing herbal community during COVID-19 is by offering a number of relevant, clinically-based webinars with access for all. While we are requesting a nominal suggested donation to go towards our webinar hosting costs, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if the suggested sliding scale donation is inaccessible for you during these challenging times.
