 nnabis has taken the nation by storm. Thirty-seven
  states (and D.C.) have medical use and 15 states 
 have recreational laws on the books (and some have
  both). Yet there is still an abundance\n of misin
 formation and misunderstanding on Cannabis and the
  endocannabinoid system (ECS).&nbsp\;\n And many h
 ealthcare providers are\, unfortunately\, unaware 
 of the effects of both the endogenous cannabinoids
  and phytocannabinoids on human physiology.\n \n T
 he ECS influences multiple organs\, tissues and ce
 lls\, as well as pathways including immune functio
 n\, metabolism and neurological tone. Curiously\, 
 most medical schools to this day still do not cove
 r the ECS\, despite the evidence-base demonstratin
 g efficacy in a number of chronic diseases.\n \n I
 n this four part Cannabis intensive we will cover:
 \n \n \n 	&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;The ethnobotany o
 f Cannabis and traditional use.\n 	&nbsp\; &nbsp\;
  &nbsp\;The phytochemistry of Cannabis including t
 he cannabinoids\, as well as the terpenoids and fl
 avonoids and the extraction of these compounds.\n 
 	&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;The endocannabinoid system
 .\n 	&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;The pharmacology and t
 herapeutics of Medical Cannabis.\n \n \n &nbsp\;\n
  \n Bio: Dr. Kevin Spelman is a molecular biologis
 t\, phytochemist\, clinician and herbalist who has
  worked with medicinal plants in the field\, in th
 e clinic\, and in research models including clinic
 al human trials and preclinical models. He has pra
 cticed phytotherapy at several clinics and was a c
 ofounder of the first full accredited Master of Sc
 ience degree in Clinical Herbal Medicine.&nbsp\; A
 s a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute 
 on Aging he researched the molecular biology of br
 ain and ovarian cancer and predicted and demonstra
 ted novel phytocannabinoid ligands from Zanthoxylu
 m spp. Dr. Spelman was a Marie Curie Research Fell
 ow in the EU researching medicinal plants against 
 malaria. His doctoral work connected metabolic and
  immunological function and elucidated an endocann
 abinoid novel target for Echinacea spp. Dr. Spelma
 n has been an editor\, reviewer and contributed to
  the knowledge base in Integrative Medicine with p
 ublications in JPBA\, Phytother Res\, Toxicology\,
  J Chromatogr B\, Anal Biochem\, Int Immunopharmac
 ol\, Planta Medica\, etc. Dr. Spelman also publish
 es an audio science journal The Spelman Report: Ph
 ytoPharmacology Review highlighting clinically rel
 evant research on natural products. He also runs H
