Special Projects Assistant - Job Description

The American Herbalists Guild is a non-profit, educational organization based in Asheville, NC. Founded in 1989, our mission is to promote a high level of professionalism and education in the study and practice of therapeutic herbalism.

The Special Projects Assistant position currently open requires skills in three areas: database and list management, member relations, and webinar events. The ideal candidate will be open to growing this position with us in the future.

Responsibilities include:
• Provide administrative assistance with computer member database using CiviCRM
• Respond to routine email correspondence and phone messages
• Manage monthly webinar event schedule
• Manage online website postings and events calendar
• Manage all logistical aspects of symposium registration leading up to and on site
• Provide support in the day-to-day functions of a small, but busy office as requested

This position requires eight to nine days of travel to attend the annual symposium held at various locations around the country each fall. Candidate must be able to attend the 2017 Symposium to be held near Portland, OR. Travel dates are October 3-10, 2017. Travel dates for 2018 (Georgia) are October 23-30, 2018.

The ideal candidate for this job is proficient with Apple Mac products, Outlook mail, Database CRM management, Microsoft Office, Social media apps, and basic website maintenance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to manage schedules and work within preset timelines as a part of team that includes AHG staff, volunteers and members.

Work site for this position is the AHG office in Asheville, NC. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 am – 5 pm as well as occasional weekends and some travel. This position will begin at 15 hours per week. $13 per hour.
