AHG Board Appoints New Chair

Dr. Keren Dolan has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for the American Herbalists Guild.

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Keren Dolan as Chair of the AHG Board of Directors, effective immediately. Keren brings many years of experience as an AHG member and volunteer to her new role. As a member of the Board of Directors since 2020, she has been instrumental in providing leadership and guidance in numerous areas. While serving as Secretary and Vice Chair, she also worked on the Governance and Ethics committees. We feel confident that her many skills and long-term experience with AHG will contribute to the continued growth of our organization. Bevin Clare, former Board Chair, will act as Vice-Chair to ensure a smooth transition until the new Board of Directors' term begins in 2023.

A Western Herbalist in clinical practice in Northern Virginia since 2007, Dr. Dolan blends Western clinical herbalism, functional nutrition, and holistic aromatherapy in work. She has strong ties to Northern Virginia and South Carolina, where generations of her African American ancestors have cultivated food and medicine.

Keren is thrilled about her new role!

"We have a diverse group of incredibly gifted healers on our Board of Directors and in our AHG membership. With tremendous gratitude for the path forged by the herbal elders of our community and in my own family line, I am honored to serve as Chair. I look forward to supporting AHG Executive DIrector Mimi Hernandez and our outstanding AHG staff as they continue to work diligently for our dynamic community of herbalists."

Exiting Chair Denise Cusack reflects on her term and looks forward to Keren’s leadership for the AHG.

"I appreciate all of the amazing and dedicated colleagues I have had the honor to meet and work with over these past 3.5+ years. I wish the best for the AHG, and know it is in good hands under the capable dedication of Keren, and all of the engaged Board Members, Mimi and staff. I have worked with Keren for over a year and a half with AHG, and am so happy she will be stepping into the Chair position, and know her experience as an herbalist, nutritionist, professor, businesswoman, and nonprofit organizer makes her a great person for this role.”
