All AHG members are hereby notified that the Election Committee is now accepting nominations for the Governing Council election to be held in August 2018. Nominations will be accepted until July 25.
The Governing Council, also known as the Board of Directors, is comprised of ten elected representatives of the membership. Their duty is to act on behalf of the members to see that the mission of the organization, as stated in the by-laws, is carried out and that the organization is financially sound. The AHG has a working council. All members of the council are expected to serve on one or two committees and provide leadership for various projects.
In the upcoming election there are five open seats for Registered Herbalists and one open seat for a General Member. Members of the Governing Council serve two-year terms. The upcoming term begins on January 1, 2019 and ends on December 31, 2021, and we hope that the winners of this year's election will be able to attend the annual Governing Council meeting on Thursday October 25, 2018 at the AHG Symposium in Georgia.
In keeping with our commitment as an organization to diversify our membership and leadership to reflect the rich mosaic of herbalists and herbalism that make up our community, the current Governing Council and staff strongly encourage our members who are people of color and anyone from other marginalized or under-represented communities to consider running for Council this year.
