Institute of Aromatic and Herbal Studies
The philosophy of the Institute of Aromatic & Herbal Studies is to provide the highest quality education and hands-on exposure to "all things herbal and aromatic." We take a holistic approach to herbal medicine, studying the plants themselves, growing conditions, harvesting, preparation of herbal medicines and distillation for essential oils and hydrosols and the healthful uses of these herbs and aromatics. The knowledge of herbal medicine allows us to be proactive in our own health-care. Once we have the ability to heal ourselves, we can help others. The Institute of Aromatic and Herbal Studies emphasizes the use of local, native plants for the home preparation of teas, tinctures, capsules, which allows students control of their own health care.

Florida School of Holistic Living
Florida School of Holistic Living
The Florida School of Holistic Living is a 501c3 nonprofit educational organization providing empowering philosophy-in-practice education that promotes holistic living since 1999. Our programming includes a comprehensive multi-level herbalism curriculum, supported by additional natural health and sustainable living workshops, continuing education, and professional training. In addition, we provide the Central Florida community a space to connect with our community, build vibrant health, and deepen our relationship with the earth, through our Bodhi Garden, Community Herbal Clinic, Moon Circles, and ongoing special events.
Philosophy-in-practice education offers students the opportunity to "get their hands dirty." We emphasize a holistic philosophy in all of our courses, a perspective which honors the whole person and their connection to their environment. We then seek to put that philosophy into practice through hands-on educational opportunities, taking our students into the field to connect with the subjects of which they are learning. By empowering our students with the knowledge and experience to live a more fulfilling, sustainable lifestyle, we hope to contribute to a more equitable, peaceful world for future generations.
Our herbalist curriculum includes:
Roots of Herbalism: Introductory Immersion
Family Herbalist Program: Comprehensive immersion including anatomy/physiology, pathology, herbal therapeutics, medicine making, Materia Medica, botany, plant chemistry, flower essences, aromatherapy, and more.
Community Herbalist Program: Eight month immersion featuring clinical practicum in our Community Herbal Clinic
Students enroll in courses by each level, with each course building upon the material of the previous. Students who are transferring from other educational institutions or apprenticeships may apply to join our advanced levels if experience from other courses applies. Our courses offer CEUs for Florida Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Dietitians, and Nutritionists.
