BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies
For over 20 years the BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies has specialized in teaching students how to use the rich cornucopia of Southern Appalachian medicinal herbs. Our name, BotanoLogos is an ancient Greek word that means, “Someone who speaks for the plants.” All of our programs emphasize the sustainable use of herbs and the importance of good stewardship.
Innovative daylong and weekend programs include seminars, field studies, hands-on harvesting and medicine making workshops. During the growing season we offer field botany hiking seminars for those interested in learning to identify and use regional flora. We also offer comprehensive training in the foundations of herbal practice in our Herbal Studies Certification Program (offered both on weekends and weekdays). In addition, we have begun to collaborate with One World Healing Community Seminar Webinars to offer live and recorded webinars.
Our reputation for creating a lively, well organized and stimulating learning environment has drawn students from all over the country to our corner of Georgia. We are located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest. Most of our classes are held at the Foxfire Center (home of the famous Foxfire books) on Black Rock Mountain in Mountain City, Georgia. (100 miles northeast of midtown Atlanta, and 90 miles southeast of Asheville, NC)
Patricia Kyritsi Howell is the founder and primary instructor. She has been a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild since 1995.
