We are currently accepting nominations for the AHG Governing Council election to be held in August 2017.  Nominations will be accepted until July 15th.

Service on the Governing Council of the AHG offers a rare chance to help drive the decisions of our mission based national association and shape the future of herbal medicine. This is an exciting time to join the leadership of AHG and help us map our way into our 30th year!

Serving the AHG Governing Council is a opportunity to grow personally and professionally, to develop skills, gain unique experience and make lasting connections herbalists, students, business owners, and educators around the world. The AHG has a dedicated staff in Asheville, NC who make the Council’s job as fulfilling as possible.

• Develop valuable skills in non-profit governance, program planning and strategic planning
• Expand your network of professional contacts
• Gain recognition from your community and peers in the herbal field
• Use your voice to advocate for clinical herbalism
The Governing Council, also known as the Board of Directors, is comprised of 10-12 elected representatives of the membership. Their duty is to act on behalf of the members to see that the mission of the organization, as stated in the by-laws, is carried out and that the organization is financially sound. All members of the council are asked to serve on one or two committees and provide leadership for various projects.
The upcoming term begins on January 1, 2018 and ends on December 31, 2020, and we hope that the winners of this year's election will be able to attend the annual Governing Council meeting on Thursday October 5, 2017 at the AHG Symposium in Oregon.

In keeping with our commitment as an organization to diversify our membership and leadership to reflect the rich mosaic of herbalists and herbalism that make up our community, the current Governing Council and staff strongly encourage our members who are people of color and anyone from other marginalized or under-represented communities to consider running for Council this year.
