The American Herbalists Guild is a non-profit, educational organization based in Asheville, NC. AHG Special Projects Assistant - 21 hours per week

The Special Project Assistant position currently open requires skills in three areas, database management, member relations, and webinar events. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative assistance with computer member database using CiviCRM
  • Respond to routine email correspondence and phone messages
  • Manage monthly webinar event schedule
  • Manage online website postings and events calendar
  • Manage all logistical aspects of symposium registration in preparation for and on site
  • Provide support in the day-to-day functions of a small, but busy office as requested

This position requires eight to nine days of travel to attend the annual symposium held at various locations around the country each fall. Candidate must be able to attend the 2018 Symposium to be held in Northern Georgia. Travel dates are October 22- 30, 2018.

The ideal candidate for this job is proficient with Apple Mac products, Outlook mail, Database CRM management, Microsoft Office, Social media apps, and basic website maintenance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to manage schedules and work within preset timelines as a part of team that includes AHG staff, volunteers and members.

Work site for this position is the AHG office in downtown Asheville, NC. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 am – 5 pm as well as occasional weekends and some travel. This position will begin at 21 hours per week. $13 per hour. The ideal candidate will be open to growing this position with us.

AHG Offce Assistant- 6-10 hours per week minimum

The AHG Office Assistant performs the following duties:

  • Assists AHG Staff with weekly needs including member mailings and outreach, filing, and office maintenance.
  • Learns the basics of the database and website and assisting with maintenance of both.
  • Assists with updating the office calendar and maintenance of the AHG member Facebook group.
  • Assists with maintenance of promotional table at occasional events, including some weekends.
  • Provides supervision to AHG interns and volunteers.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
